The Golden Yew Project is a team of professional Art Psychotherapists combining the rigour of psychotherapy with the healing potential of the arts, we provide short-term and long-term Art Psychotherapy for individuals and groups. We seek funding to give people access to the appropriate psychological support that otherwise could not be received. Our aim is to offer people appropriate, effective and affordable treatment based on their specific personal circumstances.
Why the community needs usWe work closely with GPs, Mental Health Professionals, charities and local communities to provide people access to professionally regulated Art Psychotherapy. Because access to the appropriate psychological support can be extremely challenging for certain individuals, groups and communities, as a not-for-profit organisation, we aim to bridge this gap through a range of initiatives.
Our impact on the communityJohn was referred to us through a charity suffering from anxiety, he said -"Arts Psychotherapy has transformed my life, making things clearer about the past, how I was brought up and the effect it has on the present time. I've got more of an idea of why I feel so anxious, it's a mixture of the talking and the artwork. I think more about what is happening and I'm not so black and white in my thinking. I didn't used to interact, I have a softer feeling now and am not so mistrustful of others."
