We support children and young people to be able to stay safe and feel stable in their environment.
We help victims, children and young people affected by abuse from partners, ex-partners or family members offering support to families in refuges and their own homes, helping them to move on with their lives. We need funds so we can continue providing direct services to children and young people whose traumatic experiences of abuse can create loss of trust and security, impacting on their family relationships, social life, emotional wellbeing, behaviour, education development and confidence.
Why the community needs usAccording to Government estimates there are up to 12,000 children living in Sheffield who are adversely affected by domestic abuse every year. Research shows that specialist children's services, such as the Haven House Project, have an immediate positive impact on the safety, health and wellbeing of children who have been exposed to domestic abuse. Through therapeutic play,1-1 support, family and group sessions, we support families to create better attachments and improved emotional wellbeing.
Our impact on the communityAs the only specialist domestic abuse service in Sheffield for children, we are dedicated to helping children & young people gain the confidence, knowledge and resilience to stay safe, feel stable in their homes & schools, and continue to learn positive social & behavioural skills.
We are looking for volunteers to help support our charity in a number of ways. We are particularly interested in fundraisers, event management and supporting our IT and social media needs. If you are interested in any support please contact us
