We are a theatre charity dedicated to the special needs community.
We write and develop multi-sensory drama entertainment for children and young people with disabilities which provides stimulation & enablement. We cater for a wide range and varied levels of need, including profound & multiple learning difficulties, associated disabilities, visual/hearing impairments & sensory processing disorders. Immersive storytelling aids and hands-on sensory moments aids assimilation and ensures the experience is accessible to a wide range and varied levels of disability.
Why the community needs usWe provide Short Breaks family holiday activities throughout S. London, the Home Counties & SE England. Participants with disabilities share in the fun with their neurotypical siblings and parents/carers as they move around a venue discovering scenes & meeting characters from the storyline. We use rhyme, rhythm, repetition, song & puppetry to make the experience accessible & fun for all. Families are invited to bring a picnic, socialise & enjoy lunchtime activities.
Our impact on the communityMany children are not able to visit mainstream theatre because of their disabilities. Holiday clubs & respite care are available but exclude family members. Feedback has shown that there is a need for our drama activities, tailored for children with disabilities, which can be shared with neurotypical siblings & other family members. Parents report that, whatever their disability, children can access our activities & that everyone can relax & enjoy the event in a safe & secure environment.
