We help people and families across South East Wales whose lives have been affected by brain injury. Our mission is to promote understanding of all aspects of acquired brain injury and to provide information, support and services to people with acquired brain injury, their families and carers.
Why the community needs usAcquired Brain Injury can happen to anyone, anywhere at any time. Lives can be changed in an instant. At Headway Cardiff & South East Wales we support individuals with Acquired Brain Injury to regain their independence and help their families, friends and carers adapt to a new way of life. We offer social groups, life skills sessions, counselling, an Information & Outreach service and an Independence & Wellbeing Centre based at Rookwood Hospital.
Our impact on the communityWe aim to maximise their independence and minimise the negative impact of their injury on their health and wellbeing. Our approach is person centred. We identify what individuals feel have the most impact on them and what they would most like to change. We focus on the outcomes they would like, and recognise and support their strengths and assets, working with them to achieve these. We directly help between 500 and 600 people each year and nearly 1000 people with further support and information.
