To provide a wide range of activities outdoors (or within shelter on site) such as tree planting, coppicing, willow harvesting/weaving, permaculture, guided plant/tree walks, wild food forages, gardening, theatre, drama games/performance, singing, storytelling, bushcraft, nature connection, yoga, forest school, wood craft, pottery and others. We aim to help people be active, learn and have access to the countryside.
Why the community needs usOur focus is disadvantaged or marginalise groups and has included young carers, young adults with Downs Syndrome, people with learning disabilities and youth groups. We are actively seeking to work with other sectors such as addiction, mental health, the elderly, children, adult carers, people with physical health problems, school children, domestic violence, veterans and poor families. We are particularly exploring social prescribing.
Our impact on the communityIn 2018, our first year, we welcomed 6 groups to the site who enjoyed and experienced wild food foraging/cooking, forest school, yoga, harvesting, cooking, eating, green woodworking, pottery, craft and willow weaving. In the second year, we plan to expand the range of activities, offer residentials in the yurt camp and work with local health professionals to provide social prescribing.
From late spring to early Autumn, we welcome volunteers to help with gardening and site management. The Community Interest Company would welcome more active Directors, such as Treasurer and assistance with fundraising.
