High Peak Homeless Help exists to offer support for people who are homeless - or experiencing housing-related problems - in the High Peak area of Derbyshire. We aso aim to address the root causes of homelessness.
Why the community needs usWe provide signposting and short term practical help for anyone who is homeless or at risk of homelessness in this area. We try to ensure that no one need sleep rough. We provide emergency accommodation until the person can make more permanent arrangements. While many homeless people have complex needs, preventing rough sleeping is of clear benefit to the community and it is the first step for individuals in solving the situation.
Our impact on the communityPeople being referred, self-referring or being contacted by our outreach teams total about 400 per year. Some we help over the telephone, others by face-to-face contact. Some benefit from laundry services, showers, food, weather-appropriate clothing, shoes, hot meals. Emergency accommodation is provided in fully equipped tents or with trained hosts or in guest houses. All are encouraged to work with appropriate agencies.
