The people's pier.
Lets keep our heritage safe and give it a future for the next generation
The trust was established to formalise and take forward the work of the Friends of Hastings Pier which has campaigned to support the rescue and redevelopment of the pier after it was closed in June 2006 for health and safety reasons. The trust's objects focus on the preservation of buildings of local historic value and the regeneration of the White Rock area.
They work with the Local Authority and other partners to create a new regeneration approach, fully engaging and energising local people
Why the community needs usAlthough derelict and looking sad the people of Hastings came out in support of restoring this landmark feature of Hastings and since the fire in October 2010 Hastings pier is deteriorating every day. We plan with the people of Hastings to stabilise the substructure, restore the decking and balustrade, which is then ready for future investment once the recession is over. In the meantime it can be used for the town as a place of culture with open air cinema, art displays, concerts and lots more.
Our impact on the communityThe new pier will enhance the seafront bringing the area back into life and community use. It will be something the whole town can be proud of as they have all been part of this Battle to bring their pier into the community.
Together we are nearly at the end of a long road, with ownership issue looking bright and the HLF giving as a round one pass we can all look forward. We plan fundraising events, Share Issue, adopt a plank all to raise the match funding needed.
Have some spare time and looking for a cause to champion, then we would love to hear from you.
