We provide free and confidential support to 'unpaid' adult and young carers.
We deliver an extensive service for people who provide 'unpaid' care to somebody. Many people do not see themselves as a carer, they see themselves as family, friend or even neighbour. However people see themselves, caring has a major impact on health, family, friends, finances and work. Carers come in all ages and we provide services dedicated to both adult and young carers from the age of 8. We provide support from our office base, through home visits, groups and training courses.
Why the community needs usWe strive to support and improve the quality of life for people living with the ongoing challenges of caring for someone who is ill, frail, disabled or has mental health or addiction problems. We aim to ensure that all carers have access to the information, advice and practical support they need to maintain or improve their own quality of life including their own physical & mental health and social & work opportunities. We recognise and support carers in their massive contribution to society.
Our impact on the communityIn 2012 we had contact with around 500 carers. These were carers with needs ranging from some advice on claiming benefits to carers requiring long-term contact / emotional support as a consequence of their caring role and responsibilities.
