Ipswich Town Pastors
Active in the Ipswich night-time economy.
Ipswich Town Pastors work as part of a team and in collaboration with the police and local council, seeking to be a positive influence principally on the streets of Ipswich town centre and other night life areas.
Why the community needs usWe care for people who have become vulnerable through having drunk too much or who have become isolated from friends and endeavour to arrange transport home. We seek to make Ipswich a safer place at night by removing dangerous items (we remove hundreds of glass bottles from the streets).
Our impact on the communityIpswich Town Pastors are a positive force for good. In the six years since we started we have formed positive relations with both police and clubs, and we work in partnership with emergency and other services working in town. We contribute to safety by getting vulnerable people back home, removing dangerous items such as bottles on the streets (we dispose of hundreds). Many revellers recognise us and thank us for what we have done for them, a friend or family member.
Want to join Ipswich Town Pastors? Ipswich Town Pastors is a Christian organisation. All members come from local churches with a recommendation from their vicar/pastor/minister. Ipswich Town Pastors are active on the streets of Ipswich on Friday and Saturday nights from 2200-0400. We are there to care for people who have drunk too much, or are vulnerable for all sorts of reasons, or who just want to talk. We are there to serve without prejudice.
