We offer our 170 members opportunities to broaden horizons and improve quality of life by providing leisure and social activities and support for adults and children with learning disabilities and autism. We enable our members to experience new activities, learn new skills and make and maintain friends in a safe, friendly environment.
Why the community needs us?
Adults and children with learning disabilities and ASD, and their families are at considerable risk of social exclusion and isolation. Members with a wide spectrum of learning and physical disabilities are welcomed at our weekly clubs. Our members benefit from having regular social contact both within their clubs and on community outings. For many members, our groups are the only accessible social opportunity .
Our impact on the community
The Society provides a wide range of activities that help our members to develop friendships, become involved in the local community, gain confidence and self esteem, and learn new skills. All activities are user-led and make a real difference to the lives of vulnerable local people. As Abigail says: "I enjoy going to club because I meet my friends and we can do things together, like going bowling. Sometimes we do cooking. Best of all I enjoy going on holiday with my friends."
