Why the community needs usLeeds DEC works with schools, education and youth service providers, non government organisations, teachers, youth workers, local authorities and the general public on global sustainable development issues such as fair trade, human rights and social justice. We focus on global learning, which is about understanding interdependence and valuing our capacity to create positive change. Through awareness and empowerment we can build a more just and sustainable future for people and the planet.
Our impact on the communityGlobal education fosters confidence, open mindedness and creative thinking- skills that are essential for happy, healthy and successful lives. Young people have a better understanding of the complex issues facing our planet and how they can play a part in resolving these issues and improving the lives of some of the poorest communities in our world.
