LBHC is fundraising to complete the renovation of a clubhouse.
Leighton Buzzard Hockey Club (LBHC) is a well-established Club with growing junior and disability sections. We are currently raising money to renovate a clubhouse next to our pitch which will become a social sports hub for all our hockey members. We have a rapidly growing junior section of 120 members, 100 members in our senior squads, and a brand new disability section, inspiring all individuals, regardless of ability or age, to benefit from the social and mental stimulation of sport. Since being established in 1901 we have never had a clubhouse to call our own, meaning many of our junior, elderly or disability members have been unable to fully benefit from the social side of hockey. We aim to stop this with the establishment of a facility next to our pitch where all members can join together for post match teas, socialisation and parents, visiting teams and members can keep warm and join in with club teas and events after playing sport. We believe hockey is for all!
Why the community needs usA central clubhouse will bring our community together by providing a central hub for socialisation, events and training. We will attract more members when there is a place to take shelter and socialise after games and we can utilise this facility to enhance the skills of those within our community. With greater funding we can open this up to netball, athletics and other clubs - providing a great facility for a far greater community.
Our impact on the communityWe have 300 people that will be directly impacted by the renovation and establishment of our first ever club house. We also believe this will allow us to grow our club significantly, maintaining a minimum of four ladies and four mens teams, and doubling the size of our junior membership over five years. It will provide a great training facility for the schools we partner with and will allow us to attract more players into our disability hockey group in partnership with the Rotary Club.
We are currently fundraising for a rennovation of a club house. Any skills to help with the renovation work or fundraising is very welcome.
