Community campaign to develop social housing and affordable workspace on heritage site in Lewes
Lewes Phoenix Rising is a non-profit distributing community development company working to secure genuinely affordable homes and workspace in Lewes. We have a volunteer management team and over 1,600 supporters who want to see us achieve this. Architects, planners, cost consultants, engineers and lawyers have supported us at no cost or heavily discounted rates. As our proposals gain traction we will need to fund intensive development work.
Why the community needs usWe're busy holding discussions about a new development that would include substantial workspace for Lewes' manufacturing, creative and backstage industries plus some genuinely affordable housing.
Our impact on the communityLewes has a vibrant creative hub which we aim to nurture and maintain by providing affordable workspace to replace that which will shortly be lost on the North Street Estate. Achieving this will retain a great asset to our town and the South Downs National Park - and help to keep Lewes as a great place to live in, work in and visit.
