The group provides recreational facilities in the interests of social welfare including the provision of a weekly lunch club for over 65's who are socially excluded within the local community. We provide a keep fit session at the lunch club and the services of a Welfare Officer for the members. We are under the umbrella of The Milton Keynes Irish Centre and Irish in Britain . All their activities are open to everyone in the community

Why the community needs us
Our lunch club is the largest in MK. We provide a hot meal for over 65's every Wednesday. Over 65 people attend. The average age of members is 75, they are vulnerable and often socially excluded members of the local community. We run a free weekly keep fit session and have a part time Welfare Officer. The members run their own weekly raffle, bingo and hold regular bring and buy sales and Tombola, which makes them feel they are still useful members of the community.

Our impact on the community
For many of our elderly members the lunch club is their only hot meal of the week, and their only social activity.Having a part time Welfare Officer has been of enormous benefit as she has been able to assist with claiming benefits, health and well being issues, form filling and generally offer listening ear. Some members are still in employment and we have assisted with employment issues. As with all elderly people whatever nationality they are all very proud people.
