MKMEG is a self-help support group for people in Milton Keynes with ME, CFS, PFVS and FMS
Provision of local support, meetings, information and companionship to sufferers of chronic fatigue in its various forms. The major symptoms of these conditions are long-lasting, excessive fatigue, which is not relieved by "a good night's sleep" and is made worse by exercise, muscle pain, sleep problems and problems with short-term memory and concentration. We meet twice monthly to share news, hear about management methods for these conditions and often have a relevant speaker on the subject.
Why the community needs usWe provide a place to turn to when the NHS currently has nothing to offer locally. We offer several year's experience of managing this chronic condition, with a library of books, leaflets, audio and video tapes and information from the national charities.
Our impact on the communitySufferers have someone with understanding to share their frustrations and loss of the life they had before becoming ill. Together we can act with a stronger case for the provision of a local service from the NHS and for social service benefits from the authorities
Generally fit to support the ill and incapable members of MKMEG who suffer from ME, CFS, PVFS or FMS. A fair understanding of invisible disabling illnesses and sympathy with sufferers is important.
