Stockport Canal Boat Trust (New Horizons)

Accessible Canal Boat Trips in Greater Manchester.

Provision of day, half day trips or evening trips on a specially adapted Canal Boat for individuals, groups of people with access needs or families with at least one member needing additional assistance or having a disability as defined by the DDA to enjoy a relaxing cruise and take in views of the Cheshire countryside.

Why the community needs us
Provides opportunities for elderly and people with additional needs to enjoy a form of relaxation and stimulation. As the King as Prince of Wales said when he launched the boat 'A canal boat trip is the nearest a disabled person will come to a walk in the countryside'.

Our impact on the community
In 2022 the boat carried approx 2,500 passengers throughout the year giving these people the rare opportunity to see the beautiful countryside adjoining the canal system.
