We offer ongoing support to males and females who are victims of domestic abuse in South Derbyshire and the surrounding area. We do this by listening to the service user and identifying their needs and the options available to them then supporting them to make the changes they feel are right for them to be safe and live a life free from abuse. A lot of the work is supported by volunteers who provide longer term practical and emotional support
Why the community needs usWe raise awareness about Domestic Abuse and Provide practical and emotional support to victims including a Confidential Help-line, Outreach Service including risk assessments and and safety planning. One to One Counselling to explore aspects of domestic abuse, Self-help Groups, Sanctuary Scheme to improve security sand the Freedom Programme to Women to enable increased understanding about domestic abuse, the effects on children, build confidence to improve the quality of their lives
Our impact on the communityWe work with 400 to 450 victims of abuse per annum to enable them to access advice and support to make informed decisions about the safety and well-being of themselves and their families. Many people access several services to enable them make the changes that they feel are right for them and to fully deal with their situation, increase their self-confidence and understanding of abuse to enable them to make informed decisions in the future. We have around 20 volunteers working at any one time
