Food is everybody's business: invest in Nottingham Good Food Partnership and protect our food future
NGFP is acknowledged as the lead organisation dealing with the food system local to Nottingham. We carry out research to better understand the needs of our communities, we support the expansion of food networks, we create policy to safeguard access to food growing, nature and community spaces and we also initialise, test and scale projects which address our key themes. We are a not for profit and do not receive statutory funding. We present an opportunity for business and our varied communities to invest in our food future by making donations to support our vital work. Nottingham is a tale of two cities - on one hand the city is enjoying 2 billion investment, on the other hand there are people suffering grinding food poverty and social isolation. A healthy well fed population, a thriving food growing and service sector will not only help to improve nutrition but also create new jobs, swell visitor numbers and make Nottingham a more attractive prospect for employees and investors.
Why the community needs usNGFP acts as a voice for the citizens of Nottingham, enabling a food future that's fit for purpose. We bridge the gap between communities and experts to create protective new policies which safeguard food growing and community-centric spaces. Our website hosts an expansive directory of food banks; social eating spaces; community gardens and other support services. We constantly seek to strengthen and scale networks as well as identify any issues affecting the Nottingham food community
Our impact on the communityNGPF became incorporated in May 2018 and is now recognised as both the go-to organisation for sustainable food practices in Nottingham, as well as a thought leader on plans, policies and strategies with nationwide resonance. We are the UK lead on innovative planning policy for wellbeing.
