Bridging Gaps and Increasing the Influence and Participation of BME People in Oxfordshire
We identify and articulate the needs of Black and Minority Ethnic (BME) communities, groups, organisations and individuals to the relevant responsible bodies across all sectors in Oxfordshire. Engaging local government,voluntary sector and BME communities. We facilitate individual and coordinated responses to policy and strategy initiatives that might have an impact on BME parties. We facilitate integration into the mainstream and act as an information and practical resource for the marginalised
Why the community needs usPositive contributions otherwise absent. Greater realisation of civic rights and responsibilities within target communities. Cohesion, self instigated integration, feeling of happiness and increased sense of belonging. Traditionally considered "hard to reach" groups gain reach through collaboration. Change so development of approachable services. Confidence and sense of empowerment and responsibility. Happy multicultural environment where diversity is a matter of pride and not separation.
Our impact on the community
OUTREACH/ENGAGEMENT WORKERS: Some research, visits to organisations making contact. Needs to enjoy interacting with people. ADMIN/FINANCE: Good with figures & ability to organise and use IT. TRAINEE FUNDRAISER/FUNDING MANAGER: Some knowledge of fundraising helpful,but must have positive mindset and willing to apply yourself. PROOFREADER: Excellent written and spoken English, knowledge of social networks and Internet helpful. Expenses and Appropriate Training and Support.
