Providing for linguistic, cultural and social needs of the Polish community in Northern Ireland
Promoting and advancing Polish culture; providing education as well as leisure, social and recreational activities to children and young people aged 3 to 25; promoting integration of the Polish community and undertaking activities with the aim to build good relations and to eliminate ethnic discrimination.
Why the community needs usWe run a Polish supplementary school on Saturdays during term time for children 3-16 years old. Currently we have over 200 children enrolled. We organize after-school clubs, outings, educational trips, various leisure activities. We publish a monthly free magazine, to which children from the Polish school contribute. We organize information and advice sessions for families and wider community. We engage in cross-community activities by partnering with local organizations.
Our impact on the communityWe have been invloved in promotion of biligualism and have provided support to hundred of families over the course of 9 years the school has been in operation. Thousands of Polish peaople have received support through advice and advocacy as well via helpful articles in our monthly magazine. We have also acted as a voice of the Polish community in Northern Ireland representing them in contacts with statutory bodies.
Looking for people with experience in charity management, employment law and fundraising. Also for volunteers to start a community choir or a mentoring programme for young people. On occasion we may require some proofreading in English.
