Playworks exists to promote the rights of children and young people to have access to good quality play provision and opportunities for free play in their own environment.
We are an infrastructure organisation that delivers play work training, resources, a comprehensive scrap store containing re-use materials for play and creative work, advice, including fund raising, sign posting, publications, events, conferences, a library, newsletter, and Play Forum. We host Nottingham Play Partnership.
Why the community needs usPlayworks has 470 members (working in total with approx 15,000 children); these include community and voluntary groups, private day nurseries, schools, artists, families and students. However, this number increases significantly when looking at the actual beneficiaries. Over 700 people attend Playworks training each year, including safeguarding, first aid, risk and play, management committee, creative arts and environmental training. Playworks supports a significant number of people.
Our impact on the communityPlayworks has a significant impact on the lives of the children and young people in Nottingham through the work that we deliver. We have 470 members that access the Playworks Scrap Store ensuring that groups, organisations and families have access to materials for use in children's play and arts activities. We train over 700 people a year in safeguarding, first aid and practical and creative play training. We deliver Street Play Provision in some of the most deprived communities in Nottm.
