Prime Time Luncheon Club is a friendship club offering social interaction for people over 65
Prime Time is a luncheon club that meets at the Elim Church, Bamford Street, every Wednesday and Thursday. Prime Timers are picked up and taken home by our volunteer drivers. During their stay at Prime Time, they enjoy a two course meal, social interaction and friendship. The group is often taken out on day trips. Speakers of interest are often invited to speak to the group. Each year we try to arrange a week long UK holiday suitable for older people. disabled access coach travel provided.
Why the community needs usMany older people have little social interaction. Some older folk are unable, due to physical disability, to meet their neighbours and their families can often live further afield. Prime Time offers a day out of their homes and the opportunity to meet other elderly people. Friendships have developed across the group and telephone support networks have grown up. Reducing social isolation positively impacts emotional mental and even physical wellbeing.
Our impact on the communityOlder people living alone are able to reconnect with society and rediscover the joy of living. Individuals talk of a greater sense of security and of belonging.
