The club is affiliated to MENCAP and provides a weekly social & sports club as well as weekly athletics training and swim training for adults with a learning disability. The club hopes to increase member's ability to socialise and engage in a wide range of activities and with its affiliation to Special Olympics GB to promote a healthy and active lifestyle through regional & national competitions in a variety of sports.
Why the community needs usActivities provided at club nights include a variety of indoor games, dance, aerobics, music, arts & crafts and general social development. Outdoor facilities include circuit training, athletics and football. Members competing in Special Olympics events attend additional training sessions
Our impact on the community1) Members enjoy an annual social weekend at various UK locations, members have the opportunity to be involved in training for Special Olympics swimming, athletics, football, boccia, bowling & kurling competitions & in August 2017 18 members will represent Yorkshire & Humberside at SO National Games in Sheffield
