Special Olympics National Games Sheffield 2017
Pudsey Gateway are a self financing charity and will subsidise the entry fee by 50% & pay the kit costs for each athlete and five volunteer coaches who will give their time freely over the 5 days. The volunteers provide weekly training and the competition will enable the athletes to compete against the other 2,600 athletes from all over the UK.
Why they need our service
18 of our athlete have been chosen to compete with the Yorkshire & Humberside team 7-11 August 2017 in Sheffield. They will compete in five sports aquatics, athletics, boccia, bowls, football in the largest multi sport competition in the UK for adults with a learning disability. Each athlete has an entry fee of £375 to cover residential & competition costs + £120 team kit.
Plan and expected results
The training & competition will create a pathway for our athletes to engage in a healthy lifestyle through sport. They will gain confidence and increase self esteem having the chance to engage with a wide range of people including other athletes & officials. Ultimately it will give them a chance to achieve their full potential
