Rainbow Living Charity

A volunteer-run charity providing accommodation for adults with learning and other disabilities.

We are a volunteer-run charity providing accommodation and support to people with disability, particularly learning disability. Rainbow Living values people with disability and believe that everyone should have the right to exercise control in their lives, including the right to choice over where and with whom they live. We give adults with disability the opportunity to live independently with support in quality accommodation, where they are encouraged to develop skills and confidence.

Why the community needs us
We provide high quality, affordable and specially adapted accommodation for adults with learning difficulties. Our Rainbow tenants, and their families, have the certainty that they have a place to live for as long as they wish. Our Rainbow Houses give our tenants the chance to learn life skills such as cooking, cleaning, finances, which can help a young person with disabilities to get a sense of how to manage life, gain new skills and grow in confidence in participating in their local community.

Our impact on the community
We have now helped four groups of learning disabled adults by providing them with a safe home of their own and supporting them to live more independent lives. We recognise that providing the right accommodation to support people in their daily lives has a direct impact on the choices they make and their ability to live life to the full, as well as giving more independence and improved social relationships. Our works also supports the wider family and helps to create more inclusive communities.
