Empowering families to resolve conflict in a way that is right for them.
The aim of Resolutions is to enable families to reduce conflict and improve relationships through the process of mediation. We enable children, young people and their families to take charge of what is happening in their lives and decide how best to make changes that are right for everyone. Children are at the centre of what we do and have 'a voice' throughout. Families have difficult conversations in a calm and controlled manner so they can hear and understand each other.
Why the community needs usFamilies who are more settled and enjoy robust relationships have better self esteem & aspirations & are less likely to suffer from mental health difficulties. They have more confidence to take part in local services & have better chances of being employed. Reliance on support services such as social care, the police and health are less reduced. Children with happy home lives achieve better in school and are less likely to get into trouble in the community. Costs to local services are less.
Our impact on the communityIn the last year Resolutions has worked with 175 children, young people and adults. Some of the outcomes that have been achieved include: increased school attendance, improved family harmony; parents have better parental control - children behave better at home. Regular contact between a child and her dad, separated parents co-parenting better and families able to resolve conflict themselves.
Volunteers to mentor vulnerable and isolated parents; volunteers would be trained. Volunteers in all roles would have a DBS check.
