A Community Hub in the name of Rhys Jones - a legacy of Aspiration, Hope and Community Unity.
Small Community Led Community Centre based in Croxteth - set up after murder of Rhys Jones. We run community services for ages from 5 years to 105 years.Supporting Health and Wellbeing, physical, emotional and mental.Raising aspirations and hope within the area and bringing Community Unity for all.We run sports sessions, dance and drama, youth and play sessions, healthy eating, cooking and supporting all ages in working together against Gun, Gang and Knive crimes and we educate young people.
Why the community needs usRhys Jones Community Centre offers a safe place for young and old to come along to a range of activities that are based within their local area - Croxteth Park is a large estate and if you do not drive can make living there very isolating and very costly as need 2 buses to get anywhere. We offer a range of activities for all ages - from sports, educational, health & well being - to holiday clubs and youth clubs, plus more being organised as we grow. Based in the heart of the community.
Our impact on the communityAny 1 average 'normal' week we have 217 young people attending arranged activities (5 - 13 years) , 200 adults engaging in a range of activities from Dance, fitness and craft and luncheon clubs, and we are growing in numbers of teenagers - we currently have over 80 (14 - 18 years) teenagers coming to activities. We are currently supporting 12 families locally with food and support for many issues. We have now just set up a Parent Support Group for SEND kids - and there will be more to come.
Need general support around centre, youth & play work sessions, cleaning and maintenance
