Roe Green Play Park in Worsley is at risk of closure. The play park was last refurbished about 20 years ago and, as a result, the existing equipment is in urgent need of refurbishment. Parts of the play area are becoming dangerous and, due to its age, equipment cannot be replaced. Salford City Council has already taken sections away. We are committed to raising the funds required to complete the refurbishment through grants, awards, donations and fundraising events.
Why the community needs usWe are trying to save and refurbish the playpark as it is a focal point in the community. It provides an opportunity for the local community to come together at many different levels, appealing to children of all ages, abilities and backgrounds, and helping children to meet and make friends with other children outside school and build relationships with their peers in the Roe Green neighbourhood. Playing outside is a vital part of childhood.
Our impact on the communitySatisfaction and pride in the Roe Green community. Stronger family relationships as families attend our community events, Young children in the community having a safe place to play. Young children in the community meeting peers outside of school. Increased usage of the playpark due to refurbished equipment.
