Shropshire RCC aims to make Shropshire a great place for EVERYONE to live no matter what challenges
Living in a rural area can be very hard for many local residents. Services can be difficult to access, public transport is often limited and living in a remote rural area can leave people feeling lonely and isolated. We provide a helping hand to vulnerable people and build thriving communities. We lend mopeds and bikes to help unemployed people access work. We help people stay connected in their community. We make grants to small groups and we help community organisations to grow and thrive.
Why the community needs usOur impact on the communityThis year, thanks to our support, 194 unemployed people got the transport they needed to take up a job opportunity. Over 700 volunteers received practical help to run their local village hall, or to set up a community-owned shop, cafe or pub. Over 600 local people paid less for fuel thanks to our Oil Buying Scheme. 20 people in serious fuel poverty received grants towards measures that would keep their homes warm during winter.
We are always keen to welcome new volunteers to our charity and can offer a variety of roles in areas such as fundraising, marketing, organising events, administration or serving on a steering group to ensure our services meet local needs.
