SIN Cru: Internationally recognised Hip Hop Arts Organisation based in Cambridge.
SIN Cru stands for 'Strength in Numbers' and is a Hip Hop collective working in dance, visual arts, theatre, film and music. We provide workshops, perform and work with arts and education providers on creative and learning projects. Our main aim is to keep Hip Hop Arts alive and developing whilst allowing the local and international community to benefit from them.
Why the community needs usOur objectives are, to produce and run community projects especially aimed at disadvantaged members of the community, and at young people and their families. We see our initiatives and activities as healthy alternatives to negative behaviour. We place particular emphasis on the importance of having an active and positive lifestyle, since we believe exercise and artistic expression can boost people's self-esteem, keeping them away from crime and other negative behaviours.
Our impact on the communityWe run regular term time BBoy (Breakin') dance workshops and community projects which aim to engage the wider community. All these place emphasis on youth development. SIN Cru also run the yearly SoHHA (SINstitute of Hip Hop Arts) event, an intensive week of Hip Hop dance, art & music workshops & masterclasses. SIN Cru's artists also perform, teach, compete and tour around the UK and Europe.
SIN Cru is becoming a charity, which means we need to restructure the organisation, we need trustees, a treasurer and a marketing apprentice.
