Providing support to lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans and questioning young people throughout Dorset.
Space Youth Projects qualified & specialist youth workers create opportunities for young LGBT people to be themselves, have fun & thrive by providing them opportunities to develop social & educational groups, raise awareness of diversity & equality & help challenge prejudice in the community. We also offer training for professionals & advocate for LGBT youth in Dorset (including Bournemouth & Poole). We provide opportunities for volunteers to make a positive contribution & develop new skills.
Why the community needs usReducing the social isolation that lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans and questioning young people feel helps them to realise their potential, be happy and included in the LGBT community. Raising awareness of homophobia and transphobia in society helps to reduce prejudice in a geographical communities enabling all to live happily together, be included and safer.
Our impact on the communityYoung people who have contact with Space Youth Project develop skills that benefit them in their transition to happy, healthy adults. They are able to tackle challenges effectively, have increased knowledge of healthy lifestyles and realise they are not alone. Professionals who seek advice and guidance from Space Youth Project are furnished with tools to work with LGBT young people and challenge prejudice in their establishments. Our volunteers are well supported and hugely valued.
Space Youth Project has several voluntary positions available including Trustees and HR, PR, Finance, Admin, social networking roles. Full training and support is given to successful applicants.
