Pop-In is the place to come and meet new people who live in the community with learning difficulties. There is a dedicated art group on Tuesday evenings, where our artists have a chance to get creative, learn new skills, and develop their own art practice. The artists are able to explore communication through visual mediums. Saturdays see our members explore regular therapeutic techniques with arts therapies workshops in dance movement art or music. Or exercise, well being workshops, and interactive dramatized storytelling. Always polished-off at the end of the session with a game of bingo. Members play an active role in the development of activities through regular meetings of the members' committee. Pop-In hosts a regular summer day trip and encourages members to get involved in the running of the activity events. Our aim is to help our members communicate their voice to the wider community, decrease the feelings of isolation, empower, and develop practical skills.
Why the community needs usPop-In Community Arts Festival is a week-long creative space hosted in one of London's most vibrant community art venues. It is a place where the whole community comes together to have an opportunity to explore our cultural diversity and share in therapeutic workshops, listen to community talks, make art and contribute to the art exhibition but most of all communicate with each other. And throughout the year back at our base in South London we are a hub or creative unique individuals.
