Conserve - Educate - Engage - Adapt and survive - Project Restoration - Stem workshops
On behalf of the team here at The National Museum of Computing, trustees, staff, volunteers, supporters and partners, we hope that you are all staying safe and well and we want to let you know we are here for you. We are working hard to continue to engage, educate, support and inspire you and continuously looking for ways to stay connected with you through our online presence.
Your generous donations will support us to deliver the following: Now we are looking to give back and support people out of lock-down. Mental health is important and we feel that our project seeks to assist individuals and groups with expert support and opportunities to learn with hands on sessions and workshops. Together we can ease the loneliness, encourage growth, develop individuals and break the metal barriers.
People Mental health is huge and we recognise through our community that it is crucial to support each person individually out of lock-down back into the friendly, relaxed and safe environment we offer. Allowing people to work in small community groups on projects that really inspire them. Helping with their mental and physical well being.
StemThese are challenging times. With commitment and perseverance, we will survive into the new normal. With your backing our museum can continue to educate, inspire and engage students and the general public around our shared technology heritage in the new, post-COVID age.
Our distinctive approach is engagement through the display and demonstration of working historic systems. We provide context through active education programmes, festivals, lectures, visitor activities, and interpreted exhibition and interactivity to raise awareness and inspire future generations of computer scientists, engineers and inventors. Now we offer the STEM ambassador programme free to students.
Phase I - Restoration / Maintenance facility
In support of this we acquire, conserve, restore and reconstruct historic computing systems for preservation, display, demonstration and research. To offer our volunteers a space to develop ideas and support new people to the team by offering hands on restoration projects. For more details, follow the link below:
The National Museum of Computing Reconnecting PeoplePhase 2 fundraisingTo build on the successful completion of phase 1 - 'Restoration Fix It Up' project, which secured a new Restoration Facility that is now in active use, the Museum has enormous ambitions for future refurbishment, machine repair, restoration and Maintenance, plus development of new interactive and education exhibits. We are seeking your help and support to continue our mission to Conserve, Educate and Engage people in Museum activities. For more details, follow the link below:
Conserve Educate & EngageThe National Museum of Computing (TNMOC) is home to the world's largest collection of working historic computers. Follow the development of computing: from the Turing-Welchman Bombe and Colossus of the 1940s through the large systems and mainframes of the 1950s, 60s and 70s, to the rise of personal computing and the rise of mobile computing and the internet.
Recognised as
one of England’s top 100 ‘irreplaceable places’, we welcome
corporate and group visits,
schools and individuals from all over the world.
TNMOC is a unique place; a museum that specialises in research, education and outreach around computers and technology. Our collection includes originals of the most important systems in history and working rebuilds of those lost. We work with schools and colleges to train thousands of students in computer programming and STEM-related subjects each year from a classroom equipped with 18 iconic BBC Micros. We lead change on issues such as autism in the workplace. And we live in the buildings of Bletchley Park – the home of modern computing.
Thank you for supporting us and your community!
