We provide supported work experience and training to young people and adults with special educational needs. Our trainees work alongside our dedicated staff and volunteers to gain real life and work skills. We offer wide range of opportunities in our concrete factory, woodsheds, kitchen, and garden. Almost everything our trainees produce is on sale to the public highlighting the dedication and determination of people with learning disabilities, mental health and behavioural problems.
Why the community needs usWe provide the opportunity for some of the most vulnerable and marginalised people in our community to make friends, gain skills, and do meaningful work. Not only does this have an enormous positive impact on the individuals who come to Phoenix, but it allows the wider community to see the amazing work, skills, and determination of people with special educational needs. We hope to provide our trainees with skills they need to reach their full potential.
Our impact on the communityEveryone at Phoenix gains something and our bespoke service helps all our trainees work towards and achieve their goals. Some have gained accredited qualifications in Employability. Some have used the work and basic skills they have learnt at Phoenix to go onto further education, training and work. Others have gained life skills and moved into more independent living, or have started cooking and travelling on their own. Every achievement has a huge impact on the lives of our trainees.
We are always looking for volunteers to support our trainees and help with fundraising, admin, sales, and events.
