Transition New Mills - working towards a low carbon future for New Mills and surrounding areas
Transition New Mills is part of a global network which aims to make our town cleaner, fairer, and more vibrant and better able to withstand economic and environmental challenges.
Why the community needs usIncredible Edible New Mills - would like to build 'outside classrooms' in more Primary Schools in New Mills, provide edible planters for the whole of New Mills and help the Town grow as much of it's fruit, veg and herbs as possible. The aim of Rethink Plastic New Mills is to help the town reduce the amount of plastic used thus cutting back on litter and making the town more environmentally friendly.
Our impact on the communityIENM - outside classroom at New Mills Primary, the Butterly Garden on Spring Bank, edible planters dotted around the town, planters at Top Torr Car Park. Rethink Plastic New Mills - Refill New Mills, recycling plastic at local events, working with local schools to help promote the recycling and re-using of plastic, using eco bricks to store plastic, raising awareness about plastic, working with other local groups to help them reduce plastic.
