Under the Stars is an arts and events charity for people with learning disabilities.

Under the Stars is an arts and events charity for people with learning disabilities. We believe in their talent. We believe in their creativity. Through our workshops and events, we work together to unlock their potential and change lives. Our team has been running performing arts workshops since 2010. Packed with high-quality activities, more than 100 people attend our music, dance and drama sessions every week. Everything we do is built around their needs.

Why the community needs us

We empower and enable people with learning disabilities, developing their individual skills, confidence, independence and improving their health and wellbeing. We build bridges between people with learning disabilities and the rest of the community, to the benefit of all. We work together with local government, schools, community groups and businesses, and buy locally wherever possible.

Our impact on the community

We measure our impact against the following three outcomes: 1) We will create a strong and sustainable community to support people with learning disabilities in South Yorkshire, raise awareness and model good practice; 2) We will support people with learning disabilities to socialise, have fun, meet up with old friends and make new ones; 3) We will help people with learning disabilities to develop their individual skills, confidence, independence, a voice and the ability to express themselves.

Volunteers needed

We are always looking for volunteers to help out at our nightclubs, music workshops, in the office or on our Board of Directors. Contact us to find out more, and we can send you an application pack.
