Urban Sprawl uses theatre arts engagement activities, from drama and music sessions through to professional standard productions, to help people from homeless and vulnerable backgrounds redefine themselves, their lives, and their aspirations. Our work inspires confidence and stability amongst clients through close support structures, our DIY "Can Do" approach, our industry, and our ambition. Learned social, emotional, practical and academic skills help clients truly progress with their lives.
Why the community needs usMost Urban Sprawl clients come from poor working class backgrounds, 'have been brought up in care, and struggle to reconcile multiple complex traumas visited on them through childhood and beyond. Heavily stigmatised, they're accustomed to lives revolving around institutional support. Our work helps them to habilitate into society, to feel equal, to feel normal and most importantly to feel more in control of their futures. Their success spells a resounding positive message of hope.
