We currently support over 700 young carers and run 10 after school groups, a befriending scheme, transition service, Cook Club, Relax Kids & Mindfulness and one off activities for age ranges, 5-11, 11-16 & 16-24 years. We work closely with schools/health/social care. Why the community needs us
The Young Carers charity adopts a whole family approach by offering tailored support to a vulnerable group of children in society. Often, when young carers experience problems at home through lack of support, they can develop problems of their own as they get older, which affects their life chances. Our MISSION STATEMENT - We will ensure that those identified as Young Carers and Young Adult Carers in Wigan borough, enjoy the same life chances as other young people. We have 16 years experience. Our impact on the community
The purpose of our organisation is to alleviate the stresses placed on Young Carers and their families, whose lives are significantly affected by the impact of their caring for a parent, child or relative. The benefit of providing a break from their caring role is immeasurable to the children and families. Young Carers can join in activities they would not normally have access to because of caring responsibilities and financial restraints. We promote emotional wellbeing and confidence building
We are looking for volunteers drivers throughout the Wigan Borough who can take the young carers to groups. Mileage paid.
