Clubs & Groups
WAB currently runs 14 clubs and groups across Warwickshire providing a wide variety of entertainment, social activities and support to our 200+ regular club members. Each club has a geographic catchment area and sets its own programme to meet the needs of its members. Clubs may book speakers and entertainers, arrange pub lunches and shopping trips or organise quizzes and activities. The programme is designed by the volunteers who run the clubs in conjunction with their members.
Why they need our service
With more than 15,500 people living with sight loss in Warwickshire, there is an ever increasing demand for our Social Clubs and Groups. As the population gets progressively older, we are all more prone to developing problems with our eyesight. However, for many older people, deteriorating eyesight is just one of a series of physical conditions associated with ageing. Our clubs provide transport for our members to ensure anyone wishing to attend can do so.
Plan and expected results
Our clubs provide support, entertainment and an new network of friends for people living with sight loss. Clubs enable peer to peer support provide a much needed opportunity for members to get out of the house and meet people.
