Support the Acton drop-in centre for people seeking asylum

Ealing and Acton have two hotels and one hostel used as temporary accommodation for singles and families from many different countries - all of whom are seeking asylum and most of whom have made long and difficult journeys to reach the UK to escape war or persecution in their home country.

Many in this community are vulnerable and traumatised. Although the hotels are clean and safe, many people are left for months with little or no financial support from the Government and often feel very isolated and alone. We know they are desperate to meet local people, see welcoming faces, access essential items like food, toiletries and clothing and learn English as soon as possible.

A group of local residents has set up a weekly drop-in where asylum seekers can meet in a nearby hall, eat together, have some English conversation and lessons, play games and make friends. Toiletries (including nappies and period pads) are provided and everyone enjoys food together and can take food home, provided by the Felix Project and other generous local donors, to eat/cook in their rooms.

Your kind donation will pay for lunch ingredients, toiletries, phone credit and travel costs; for people who need to see solicitors or have medical appointments which are out of the locality.
