To encourage people (especially young persons 7-21 years of age) to make more of, & benefit from their available leisure time by participating in team sports, and in the development of individual skills. To encourage enhanced health and fitness levels, and to help in the battle against obesity, ( frequently caused through TV or playstation addiction). To enhance community well-being by widening friendships and social inter-action, and by the development of a wide range of life-skills.
Why the community needs usWhixley Community Cricket incorporates Whixley Phoenix Juniors. Together they form a focal point for community interaction, and make a positive contribution to village life, through their social events calendar, education and training sessions, and team games, within both a friendly and competitive environment. The movement provide a safe place for young people to develop their individual and team skills, aids their physical fitness, and helps them to manage their transition to adult life.
Our impact on the communityYoung people gain increased skills and improved attitudes to learning and to working with adults. A more positive community attitude towards young people, and a greater community spirit is achieved. More people gain enhanced skills in sport, recreation and team dynamics.More people progress to higher levels of sport, enabling them to aspire to County or national levels of performance. Increased youth participation contributes to stronger,safer communities & reduced anti-social behaviour.
To work with young people, learn scoring, help with travel occasionally IT qualified person to keep Club websites updated , to attach photographs, and to develop Facebook and Twitter links.
