Supporting people to have a voice, make more informed life choices and improve their wellbeing
Wiltshire Service Users' Network was the first User led organisation in Wiltshire . It was formed in 1991 by people who use health and social services, to promote user involvement and support people to have a voice. Our aim is to bring vulnerable and marginalised people together. We do this by:
- Building on peoples skills and experiences.
- Giving people information so they can make more informed life choices.
- Encouraging peer support.
- Working with communities to develop their ideas and projects. We support people with disabilities including physical and sensory, those on the autistic spectrum, people with mental health experiences, long term conditions and older people.
Our projects include our Wellbeing groups:
- Find Your Voice singing and social group for people with Parkinson's, other neurological conditions and long term conditions and their relatives and carers.
- Creativity on-line is a weekly creative and social peer support group which currently meets via zoom. The sessions are for people with mental health issues, other long term conditions and carers and aims to connect people through creative sessions.
- The Support Rheum is a weekly online group set up to help connect people with range of different types of arthritis that for many is a long term, chronic pain condition. Talking with other people who understand what they are going through and sharing experiences can help.In addition we support adults with Autism through our Wiltshire Autism Hub, providing mentoring, counselling and peer support and young people in Bath and North East Somerset to learn to travel independently, building their skills and confidence.
- The Wiltshire Autism Hub provides 1 to 1 support for adults with Autism and their families who live in Wiltshire.
