Community Cover: Protect your gear

Before you post a listing, you might want to think about how to protect your equipment from theft or being written off.

We think you have three options here.

A. You can get private commercial insurance for your gear (Your equipment won't be covered on your home or contents insurance if you are choosing to hire it out to others). You will then

B. You can take out Community cover for it. Community cover is a way of protecting your equipment. You pay a £50 annual payment to the Watersports Library. That £50 then gets put into a kitty and used if someone steals or KO's your equipment. Community cover only lasts for a year.

Now, there are a couple of things we ask if you want to put in a claim. Firstly, all conversations, emails and payments need to be made through the Watersports Library website. Second, the user agreements must have been signed and the pre/post-borrow forms must be completed correctly (especially uploading the driver's license). We will consider a payout of up to £500. If you want to take out community cover, you can choose to subscribe here.

C. You can choose not to protect your equipment. Obviously then the watersports library cannot be held liable in any way.

Volunteers needed

We are looking all the time for new volunteers to join what we are up to. We would love help in the hubs looking after and maintaining the library. We would also appreciate a hand with fundraising, business development and qualified watersports instructors who would be willing to partner with us.
