The You Can Hub is not a charity, and not your ordinary community enterprise. We grew from five individuals who met regularly over a shared meal to voice our hopes and dreams while in a difficult situation. We could all see the challenges for people facing disadvantage in our community, through not being given the opportunity to share their skills and passions with others. We facilitate a community based on asking, giving and receiving, where everyone can be a giver and a receiver.
Why the community needs usYou Can Hub shows how inclusive working can bring great rewards. We start with one person, a human being with a name and interests and skills, and with a barrier they want to overcome - their "impossible." By working out how to make this impossible possible for one person, we've found it opens the way for many - such as Aaran's dream to cycle, just like the rest of his family, which led to our project You Can Bike Too.
Our impact on the communityWe have held over 20 socials in the last two years, where people come together to share their ideas and get motivation and inspiration as well as tapping into resources to make them happen. Aaran's dream is now a team, based at Milton Country Park - read more on the You Can Bike Too project page. We aspire to be a revolution of people naming their impossible and working with others of all abilities to make it possible, learning every step of the way.
