24hr for Churches Houses Action TeamA fundraising project by Matthew Melksham
I have had the pleasure of being involved with Churches Housing Action Team (CHAT) in the past and see what a transformative impact they have on people’s lives.
CHAT believes that everyone deserves decent, secure and affordable housing – somewhere to call home.
As well as giving housing advise to prevent homelessness they also give debt advice helping people to make the right choices with their money. It is often the way that people on low incomes have a harder time managing their expenses as any unexpected costs can force a real spiral into debt.
CHAT also runs a food bank which continues to be very busy, this is a service that supports people in need. This is not a hand out but a help up service meaning that as well as giving food they try to address any other issues that the people may be incurring that has forced them to come to the food bank.
The recent move into the new building and the creation of the HUB is excellent news as it gives the charity more space to be able to help more people and unfortunately there are many more people who need CHATS help.
So please donate any amount to CHAT to help them continue to support vulnerable people in our community.
To raise money for this cause I will be competing in the Hope24 hour race on 16-17 June 2018. This will mean that I will attempt to complete as many laps of a trail 4.4 Mile loop at Newham Park in Plymouth as I can in 24 hours.
Event page if you want more details:
I am aiming to run at least 100K over this 24hour period, so whether you want to sponsor me a flat amount or an amount per lap its up to you but it all counts.
Thank you and I supposed I better get training!!
