We are 8s from St John’s School and we have chosen to support the charity Stripey Stork, which helps children and babies living in poverty by donating pre-loved and new equipment to local families in need. The charity really appreciates any donations whether it’s old clothes and toys or money, so we are trying to help.

On Thursday 27th of March we are going on a 10 mile walk and are each aiming to raise at least £20, but are hoping to raise much much more 😊 We are asking family and friends for donations, but anyone is welcome to. It will all go to a good cause!

Every year in Surrey & Croydon over 1,060 people are made homeless and 42.9% of people are deprived of resources in some way. This number is climbing every year as more and more people find themselves desperately trying to make ends meet. This is where Stripey Stork comes in. A local charity, they accept donations of pretty much everything from toys to baby baths. Overall this year, they have responded to 4023 requests for help, but due to the cost of living crisis there is the worry of running out of essential items due to an increasing number of families becoming deprived of necessary things. Between the years 2019 and 2022 the number of people unable to access food, warmth and shelter rose by 61% in the UK and the number of children in absolute low income families in Surrey in 2022 and 2023 rose by 8.6%.

Of course, all kinds of donations would be greatly appreciated and if you are unable to financially donate at the moment, why not think about physical donations? Please, please, please think about donating. And remember, small actions can make a big impact.
