Running Richmond Half for The Freewheelers
I am running the Richmond Half Marathon on the 15th September and hoping to raise funds for the Freewheelers. Freewheelers are a theatre Group in Surrey working with disabled and non disabled people to collaborate on workshops and perform shows. Freewheelers provides a huge benefit for the community, offering a space where people can learn new skills, develop confidence and also have a lot of fun.
This is a charity my Grandad Bill Pearson was involved with until he passed away earlier this year. He believed that the experience of participating in theatre should be open to all, regardless of ability which is why Freewheelers and the work they do was so important to him.
Money raised will be used for a variety of things that ensure Freewheelers can keep running and provide a inspirational experience for the members as well as being accessible.
Examples include the hire of venue, which enables the use of dance studios and media suites and the organisation and cost of transport which is a lifeline for members who may have difficulty getting to the theatre. It also enables them to put on tours by hiring out additional venues along with other additions to shows such as costumes, food and drink and hiring tutors to deliver workshops.
