H4TH Virtual Great North Half Marathon

Hi folks.

Earlier this year I decided to take up outdoor running for a change of pace. Loved it so much I’m still doing it 7 months later! My plan was to compete a half marathon at some point this year but due to obvious reasons that hasn’t been possible. 

So the Great North Run have decided to host a Virtual Half Marathon which will take place on Sunday 13th September at 10.30am. This will mimic the same race format - competing in 13.1 mile distance - but obviously on a slightly different route, closer to home. 

As this is my first ever half marathon I thought that I should try to raise a few quid for a good cause. 

After reading and learning about the hard work and effort this group puts in, it left no doubt in my mind that I wanted to raise as much I possibly could for them. They are Help For The Homeless (H4TH) who are a non-profit community group based in Glasgow. 

Every Thursday evening from 8pm these guys are out on Cadogan Street in Glasgow, providing hot meals & snacks, clothes, bedding and basic toiletries. Everything they provide is free of charge so they rely on the donations made by their hard working volunteers and generous members of the public.

That’s why I’m asking you to give as much as you can to this great cause. In these strange times we find ourselves in, and with Autumn/Winter just around the corner, it’s more important than ever that these guys can keep appearing every Thursday evening to provide these services to our city’s most vulnerable.

Please, donate as much spare cash that you can to these guys. Every penny will be appreciated by H4TH, and myself, and will help me power through that 13.1 mile mission.
