About

The Stony MAMILs are a proud bunch of middle aged cyclists based in Stony Stratford near Milton Keynes, that enjoy long bike rides, good coffee, cake and the odd beer. Starting on Friday 29th April, the team will be cycling for 3 days across the north of the country covering 175 miles of extremely hilly terrain through the Lake District, Yorkshire Dales and North York Moors.
For the Coast to Coast challenge loosely based on Wainwrights C2C walking route, we will be joining forces with our local charity Willen Hospice, to help fund a very small part of the £4.7 million running costs they incur each year. All donations to this site will go directly to the Willen Hospice with gift aid available. For more info on Willen Hospice click here : Willen Hospice - End of life palliative care (willen-hospice.org.uk)

The 2022 Stony MAMILs C2C challenge will start with a dip of the tires in the Irish Sea at St Bees before making its way through 2 of the UK's steepest climbs, Hardknott Pass & Wrynose Pass that ramp up to over 30% gradients in the shadow of Scafell Pike, England's highest mountain. After passing Lake Windermere the first day ends in Kendal. Day 2 is a hilly 75 mile ride across the North Yorkshire Dales finishing in Yarm, with the final day winding through the North York Moors before descending into the North Sea at Robin Hood Bay.

With over 175 miles of hilly cycling and 11,000 ft of climbing this is going to be a tough challenge for the Stony MAMIL cyclists of Andrew Flowers, Rob Atkinson, Johnny Tull, Tim Swaby, Phil Rennie, Andy Low, David Fiske & Julian Best.

All of the costs related to this tour are self funded or sponsored by generous local businesses including The Greek & French Affaire, Vizion Wealth, Agent Phone Ltd, Fiske Interiors, Paragon Micro UK, Cleaner Outdoors Stony Stratford, Springhill Collection and Rennie & Sons Builders.

Thank you in advance for your generous donations and we hope to return in one piece to tell you about the challenge.

Update from Andrew

A big thank you to everyone for donating to our fundraiser. The 3 day ride can only be described as epic. Sunshine everyday and no rain, and everyone managed to do the 101 climbs including Hardknott
