I began running a year ago to get fit and to help with postnatal depression. During this time my friend Louise has been fighting various cancers. She has always put on a brave face and was determined for it not to get the better of her... sadly it returned with a vengeance and her treatment is no longer working. Louise should be celebrating her 40th birthday in August, but she is now being cared for by her parents for the weeks/days she has left.
Louise is a wife and a mum, her 6 year old son Louis has watched his mum gradually deteriorate over time and does not know if his kiss good-bye is going to be his last.
On 26th May I'll be running the Edinburgh marathon and I'd really like to raise some money for a local (Bristol) charity called 'The Rainbow Centre for Children' https://rainbowcentre.org.uk
They support children and their families with bereavement through counselling, workshops and family fun days.
Louise has been a real inspiration to me - I think about her every time I run and although she may not know it, we will complete this marathon together.
